Becoming a Father Part 1

I've never really had an active presence on the blog until just recently, but its kind of fun and I'm going to continue to post here and there.

I'm going to share some of the thoughts and questions that I had over the time of Bonnies pregnancy and the first moments of Jarretts life.

I remember very vividly the day I found out I was going to be a dad. The work day had been pretty standard not super busy or anything, I remember thinking about making a stop by the store on the way home, deciding it wasn't very important, I skipped it and just went straight to the apartment. I walked into the apartment and was almost instantly greeted by Bonnie, running from the back bedroom to the end of the hallway. She was clearly excited, and surprisingly, still in her work clothes. Normally our first order of business upon arriving home is to immediately don our "comfies" to relax for the evening. She said something along the lines of "wait right there! close your eyes!" She ran into the back room again and came back out and stuck something into my hand, I pretty much knew what it was immediately, my eyes popped open. Two Lines, no question about it, there was definitely two lines. World rocked, foolish grin, eyes on my wife. Was it real? Could it be? After so long? Foolish grin... She looked radiant, more perfect in that moment, than ever in the previous 4 years of our marriage. I was going to be a dad?!?!?? Before I knew it she was taking my picture with that same foolish grin on my face. SIGH. After a few more tests, more sure than ever, we were ready to start telling people, even though we knew we needed a doctor to confirm it. The first semi-rational returned to reality thought I had was "Boy or Girl?" It didn't matter to me in the slightest, from my perspective I would either get to play with all the boy toys I got to play with growing up, or I would get to play with a whole new set of Girl toys that I never had the chance to play with! Either way it was a win/win.

In the next part, our really funny first few phone calls to our parents. Out of time for now!
